Carrot "Lange rote stumpfe ohne herz 2".
A well-known mid-late variety: 120-140 days from germination to technical maturity.
This variety has a very high percentage of dry matter and carotene.
The roots are cylindrical in shape, red-orange in color, with a "blunt" tip, 18-22 cm long.
The variety is very productive, the fruits have a very attractive market appearance: large, even, with excellent external and internal color and a small core. The taste qualities are excellent. It is intended for long-term storage.
1 gram = 850-1000 seeds.
Growing Guide.
Carrots grow best in light loamy and sandy loam soils. The best predecessors are potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and legumes. In spring, before sowing, a complex mineral fertilizer is applied to the soil. Sowing is done at the end of April in furrows 3-4 cm deep. The distance between rows is 18-20 cm. Two weeks after germination, the carrots are thinned out. A second thinning is carried out when the roots reach 1 cm in diameter, leaving 5-6 cm between plants. Further care involves weeding, loosening, and watering. Winter sowing is carried out when the temperature drops to +5°C (second half of October - early November). The seeds are planted at a depth of 1-2 cm, and the soil surface is mulched with peat.

* Carrot seeds germinate slowly, and the longer the process, the faster the rows become overgrown with weeds, making it very difficult to thin out the crop seedlings. Thinning is further complicated by the fact that due to the extremely small seeds, the seedlings emerge too thickly.
Both problems are easily solved. Soak the seeds in warm water for six hours to allow them to swell. Instead of water, you can (and it's even better) use fennel or chamomile tea, which will help protect the seedlings from rot-causing bacteria.
Spread the swollen seeds on a paper towel and let them dry slightly. Then mix them with one or two handfuls of sand and sow as usual. Even easier is to pour the seeds into a plastic bag, mix them with moist sand, let them sprout, and then carefully place them together with the sand into the furrows in the bed.
